20% Off Merchandise Discount for Annual Passholders is Back

Exciting news coming out for the 45th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort with the return of the 20% off merchandise at Disney-Owned and Operated stores (see fine print on the official Disney World website here)

What does this mean for How To MCO website visitors?

Well because our website is focused around trip planning and providing additional values where we can find them, this will add a whole new conversation into the mix about whether or not an Annual Pass will be a worthwhile investment.

We are not receiving a commission from anyone to talk about this subject. This is 100% our opinion and our goal is not to influence your buying decision.

If you put the numbers into the conversation:

**Please note that prices are current as of the publishing of this article**

Annual passes include a number of perks, which is why a segment of their visitors gravitate towards the programs. Discounts, parking, special events and other perks may be available throughout the term of your pass.

Disney Platinum Plus Pass is $829/pp, which basically gets you into all 4 Walt Disney World theme parks for one year with no blockout dates, Standard Parking, AND admission to the water parks!

If you don’t want the water parks, the Disney Platinum Pass is your best option at $749/pp. This still includes unlimited admission into the theme parks with Standard Parking at WDW Theme Parks.

How does this impact our trip?

Look at the individual park tickets

  • 2 Day Park Hopper Ticket is $257/per adult
  • 3 Day is $290
  • 4 Day is $325
  • 7 Day is $439
  • 10 Day is $469

This is just the ticket and the ability to go to multiple parks in a single day. No merchandise discount and no food/beverage discount.

If you’re planning on buying a T-shirt at EPCOT during your trip, you’re looking at an average of $25. When you get a 20% annual pass discount, then that goes down to $20 for the same item. Add up your purchases…

Do you like enjoying Table Service dining at Walt Disney World? Well part of the Passholder Program is a 10% off food and nonalcoholic beverages at select table-service restaurants (Link Found Here). Add it up, because sometimes this is the icing on the cake while other times this is a make-or-break part.

Thinking Long Term

We’re all about thinking realistically on How To MCO. Every discount or program is not made for everyone, so we don’t want to say one way or another that this is the best option. To be honest, a lot of people may go to Walt Disney World once every few years due to vacation time, cost and other factors…so buying a regular vacation package (room, tickets and Disney Dining Plan) may be a better value.

Why are we sharing this?

It’s simple. We want our website visitors to be incredibly well-informed prior to making their trip to Walt Disney World. If this is an option that will save you money and give you a better experience, then we’ve done our job.
